Pumpkin Patch

Fall makes me happier than I ever realized, reminding me of football and cheerleading, hayrides, and apple cider, and of course, pumpkins!  I love pumpkins and eating them, and I don't know if it is because I am pregnant with the propensity toward cravings and obsessions but I wanted to instill the love of pumpkin and all things autumnal in my son as well.

And so this autumn we took Nicholas to not one, but two pumpkin patches. I regretfully didn't bring my camera to the first one, but we decided to take a 45 minute trip out to the beautiful Bluemont, Virginia to Great Country Farms.  I would highly recommend it to all of you with little ones because this place was seriously amazing.  I could only include a fraction of the pictures here or you would be flipping through pictures for hours, but believe me when I say, it is worth the drive and admission, as there are TONS of things to do.

Enjoy the photo story below.  And Happy Fall!

Mommy kisses in the pumpkin patch.
"AGGGHHH MOM!"

Trying to find the perfect pumpkin, or as it turned out two.

A tire climb.
There goes the king of the mountain.

Rope swing

Every 3 year old boy's dream: a mechanical dinosaur that smashes pumpkins!
I'm serious, I did not make that up.

Look at the expression of joy on Nick's face.

Whoa!

These bounce pillows or air pillows are so cool.  Parents were not allowed on this one
or else there would have been a reprisal of this:
(Last year at another pumpkin patch on another bouncy pillow).
But no, my current "condition" would not have allowed for this- haha!

A Nick cow!!!

Ok, Pregnant Mom would like credit for
squeezing into one of these cows (hold the jokes, please).

And now we are back at home with our two pumpkins.
This one we painted and glitter bombed.

Delicate work

What focus!

Just about finished...

The results were quite pretty

The other pumpkin, we were more traditional with and
we scooped all of the seeds out, then Nick picked out a scary face for me to carve.

Ew! Slimey!

Backward scoopage
And of course, the seasonal treats followed shortly there after.

My first time roasting pumpkin seeds- yummy.

An insanely yummy (if you are a gourd/squash fan like me) casserole

And Nick's personal favorite- the mummy.
