Summer Nights

I went to the library about a week ago and checked out a slew of cookbooks. The one I kept coming back to was The Whimsical Bakehouse by Kaye and Liv Hansen. I am obsessed with the beautiful designs and the COLORS.

I made this gorgeous cake for our Sunday evening dinner with my parents which is my version of their Summer Nights cake. It was a light, moist lemon cake with vanilla buttercream. The fireflies are crafted out of vanilla and chocolate and turned out so wonderfully, as did the color of the buttercream. I am so proud of this one. I just adore the vibrant, lively colors.
